A lifetime member of the Law Society of Ontario with 50 years of combined legal and investment expertise, Stephen brings a multi-disciplinary perspective to JCIC. As a founder and lead investor, he specializes in the complex intersection of taxation, estate planning, and private business ventures.

Institutional Experience
Stephen’s career is defined by a rare blend of legal rigor and entrepreneurial success. Before joining JCIC, he practiced law with McCarthy Tetrault (formerly McCarthy & McCarthy) for 25 years, where he specialized in taxation law and estate planning.
In 1999, Stephen founded Newton House Investments, which subsequently merged with JCIC. Beyond the public markets, he has been a successful lead investor in private ventures spanning the chemical, telecommunications, and medical product industries. This broad experience allows him to advise on the intricate details of trusts, pensions, foundations, and the purchase and sale of businesses.
Community & Leadership
Stephen is a pillar of Toronto’s arts and education circles. He remains active as a director and fundraiser for several prominent healthcare, arts, and educational charities, furthering his commitment to the city’s cultural and social wellbeing.
